About The Apprentice
Being selected for the Apprentice is the ultimate job interview, held over 12 weeks, pitting each candidate against a number of hopefuls from across the country. The men and women are tested to the limit in a series of daunting business related tasks. The reward is a dream job in Sir Alan Sugar’s business empire with a six figure salary.
This is a once in a lifetime experience and it attracts all manner of characters but as Sir Alan himself says ‘I don’t care where you come from, whether you started in a council flat or you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth, all I’m looking for is someone drop-dead shrewd’.
The 16 candidates are divided into two teams, and each week the group that wins the task is rewarded with a luxury treat, the losers must report back to the boardroom to face Sir Alan Sugar and his trusted aides, Margaret Mountford and Nick Hewer.
Margaret has worked with Sir Alan for more than 20 years and was a partner at a top-tier law firm before she retired in 1999. Nick Hewer worked in PR for 30 years, heading up his own company until its sale in 1998.
The Rules
Throughout the entire task, from a discount hunt in Marrakech to selling fish on a London market stall, these rules remain constant.
